Those on the file are facing legal follow-ups related to suspicions of financial, administrative and economic offenses, highlighted in banking and regulatory investigations involving several transactions. The course of investigation in this case was reopened during November 2023 after previously being reserved, before the Prosecutor General abandoned the file in favor of the economic and financial jurisdiction to complete the follow-up.

Reza Sharafdin is serving prison sentences in separate other cases, including an initial sentence of 11 years imprisonment issued in March 2026 in a money laundering file. He was previously sentenced to three years in prison and fined 72 million dinars in a case involving money laundering and making gains abroad without a legal license.

The next procedural step is to await the decision of the Court of Appeal on the appeal against the validity of the referral decision, in advance of consideration of the appeal before the Criminal Chamber by the deadline set for late next month.
