The president's adviser justifies the budget increase in rent spending
Murad al-Halimi presents the budget of the presidency of the Republic to parliament, pointing out that the wage bill represents the largest share of the planned increases for 2027.

First Chancellor of the Republic President Murad al-Halummi on Monday in the Bardo Palace presented the budget of the presidency of the Republic for 2027 amounting to about 248.576 million dinars to the deputies of the two foreign relations and investment committees of parliament. This budget recorded an increase of 8.22% compared to the 2026 budget which had reached 229.705 million dinars.
Rental expenses accounted for the bulk of the proposed allocations of 179 million dinars and 72.25% of the overall budget of the presidency. The remaining loans were distributed between 36.660 million dinars allocated for administrative expenditure and 20.5 million dinars for intervention expenditure along with 12.011 million dinars of investment expenditure.
The scientist explained to lawmakers that the weight of rental expenses explains Assad's share of the planned increases for the presidential institution. The First Adviser to the President of the Republic explained that this increase in the presidential budget was mainly due to the implementation of planned wage increases and the implementation of manoeuvres and administrative upgrades.
These parliamentary debates are part of the constitutional and legal process of studying and discussing the bill on finance and state budget presented in both Houses. The presentation process took place during the joint hearings of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People and the National Council of Governments and Regions committees to consider state budget missions for 2027.
Joint hearings are being held with representatives of other ministries and public institutions to examine the remaining budgetary tasks. The next step is to complete the meetings of the Joint Committees in preparation for the submission of final reports to the general sessions intended to approve draft financial laws before the end of the legal deadlines.
