The Central Bank of Tunisia's data released today, 29 October 2026, showed that net assets in foreign currency declined to 93 days of supply. The total value of assets amounted to 24.143 billion dinars, amid continued pressure on the country's external financial and fiscal balances.

Official figures show a marked decline compared to the same period last year, when the reserve covered 107 days of supply, reflecting a 14-day decline. These figures come amid the widespread trade deficit and high energy and basic food import bills from global markets.

Successive financial obligations to repay foreign debt premiums and interest contributed to the depletion of a portion of foreign cash liquidity during the second half of the year. Follow-up of these indicators is part of the Bank's mandate to regulate monetary policy and manage reserves under its Basic Law No. 35 for 2016, along with the requirements of the Finance Act 2026 to implement the budget and cover expenses.

The outlook for the next phase is towards the completion of joint parliamentary debates between the Assembly of the Representatives of the People and the National Council of Governments and Regions on Budget Implementation Indicators and the Finance Bill for next year.
