Vegetable and Food Prices Rise Due to Reduced Supply

There has been a noticeable increase in vegetable and food prices in wholesale and retail markets, coinciding with a reduction in the volume of supplies through organized channels.

According to Hamadi Daoud, the head of the National Association of Wholesale Traders, this shortage is due to farmers' reluctance to supply official markets and their shift towards random sales.

Traders warned that the growing promotion of crops through parallel channels is fueling the price hike and weakening control and monitoring mechanisms, which negatively impacts the purchasing power of consumers.
