The General Agency of the Court of Appeal of Tunisia on 2 November 2026 ordered the CEO of a battery manufacturing and distribution company to be imprisoned, in execution of an appeal court ruling that sentences him to one year in prison. The decision came after all legal proceedings had been exhausted, with the convicted person being transferred directly to a civilian prison to begin serving his sentence of imprisonment.

The parts of the case file relate to investigations and follow-ups undertaken by customs interests, following the detection of customs infringements and the conduct of illegal commercial import operations in the transactions of the manufacturer. The results of financial research showed that the firm's business operations had been overstepped, requiring it to be brought to justice for its charges.

The accused was initially tried in a release case before the Primary Court, where the Primary Criminal Chamber spent one year in jail. One of the Circuits of the D.C. Court of Appeals pledged to uphold the judge's initial sentence of imprisonment for the same period without amendment.

The decision on the appeal ordered that the official be included in the judicial inspection intending to enforce the penalty in force, so that the Economic and Financial Research Sub-Department of the Justice Police Department in Bal Gurjani can stop him and refer him to the Court of Appeal. The judiciary has taken the necessary steps to complete the correctional procedure after sealing the probation procedures.

Implementation of the filing is a final step in the process of prosecuting customs infringements relating to the company, after the lawsuit has brought the parties to the dispute before the relevant circuits and the judgments issued have become binding on immediate effect.
