Branches of the League of Human Rights call for a ceasefire at Monastir in solidarity with Ayachi Hammami
The Coastal Branches of the Human Rights League called for a protest stand in front of Monastir Prison to protest the conditions of the transfer of lawyer Ayachi Hammami and the restriction of his rights.

The LTDH branches in Sousse, Monastir and Mahdia called for a solidarity strike and protests in support of the detained lawyer and rights activist Ayachi Hammami. This appeal came against the background of his transfer from Mornaguia Civil Prison in the Tunisian capital to Monastir State Civil Prison during September 2026.
The human rights office explained that this action caused a great deal of transportation for the Ahmadi family to visit him, as well as recording delays in the delivery of books and correspondence addressed to him within his detention centre. This move was accompanied by a hunger strike by the Hamites, following their declaration on 18 September 2026 of solidarity with the detainees of the Resilience Fleet.
Ayachi Hammami is serving a five-year prison sentence issued by the Tunisian Court of Appeal on 28 November 2025, after his eight-year initial sentence was reduced. This court ruling falls under what is known as the conspiracy on state security on state security case, where the enforcement of the sentence was suspended on December 2, 2025.
The League had previously called for a cease-fire with Monastir in solidarity with Ayachi Hammami and to protest his transfer from Mornaguia prison.
The Human Rights Branch has set a deadline for field action to organize the protest stand outside the entrance of the Monastir Civil Prison on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 1:00 pm, to continue pressure and demand respect for the rights of detainees and facilitate visits to their families.
