The Secretary of Commerce is forwarding five public transaction files to the Competition Council

Minister of Commerce and Export Development Samir Abdi announced on Thursday 5 November 2026 the referral of 5 files of unlawful agreements and practices pernicious to competition in the field of public trades to the Competition Council. These measures were unveiled during a joint parliamentary hearing to discuss the mission of the ministry under the draft state budget for 2027.

These references fall under the provisions of Law No. 36 of 2015 on competition and price regulation, which prohibits collusion and illegal practices in the market. The move coincided with the competition council's earlier pledge of about 11 other cases received through lawsuits from affected institutions as well as automatic pledges.

The minister clarified that the interests of economic control carried out 507,000 loss operations during the first 10 months of 2026 and resulted in the lifting of more than 86,000 trade infringements. He added that the ministry has started procedures for implementing 6 decisions issued by the Competition Council after they fulfilled the litigation paths where their total value amounted to 3.9 million dinars as financial offenses.

The Ministry of Trade and Export Development intends to complete the proceedings to file 15 additional lawsuits with the Competition Council before the end of 2026 to reduce monopoly and dismantle market dominance positions.
