Rent spending is 72.25% of the president's budget
Large-scale rental expenses are affected by the Republic's 2027 presidential budget of nearly 179 million dinars amid a year-on-year increase in state spending and wage blocks.

Representatives of the Presidency of the Republic presented, on Monday 2 November 2026, the estimates of the important budget for 2027 before joint parliamentary sessions to discuss the draft State Budget and Finance Law. Presidential appropriations amounted to about 248.576 million dinars, an increase of 8.22% from the 2026 budget, which was around 229.705 million dinars.
Rental expenses accounted for 72.25% of the total presidential budget, amounting to about 179 million dinars, up from 168 million dinars recorded during 2026. This increase in rental expenses within the Presidential Institution is due to the settlement of manoeuvres, promotions and wage increases scheduled according to official data presented to deputies.
These loans fall under the provisions of the Basic Budget Law and the requirements of Chapter 15 of the Finance Act to cover public sector programmed increases for the period from 2026 to 2028. The gross wage of the country is about 27349 million dinars, representing more than 13% of GDP under the financial pressures of the public treasury.
These estimates coincide with the decline in hard currency reserves to 93 supply days compared to 107 days during the same period last year. The energy trade deficit of more than 10 billion dinars exacerbates the high pressure on public financial balances and external payments.
Joint parliamentary committees between the Assembly of the Representatives of the People and the National Council of Authorities and Territories will complete hearings on other missions and ministries in the coming days. This pathway aims at preparing the authoritative reports in advance of the transition to public meetings and the vote on the 2027 Finance Bill before the constitutional term expires by the end of the year.
