The University Hospital in Sousse is receiving 200 new medical beds

The University Hospital in Sousse State on Saturday 31 October 2026 delivers the first batch of 200 new medical beds, out of a total of 313 programmed beds to refurbish hospital facilities and develop the institution's health infrastructure. These facilities are part of an air plan aimed at improving capacity, improving patient accommodation and improving the quality of medical care provided.

The health administration immediately began implementing the field distribution plan, focusing on Sunday, November 1, 2026, the entire equipment for the 20-bed blood purification unit as an absolute first priority. The operation involved the concentration of articulated equipment in designated medical spaces to ensure continued provision of services to patients under appropriate conditions.

The hospital administration has reported that the distribution of this equipment is part of the strategic plan of the health institution's project to advance infrastructure and ensure the safety of the residents in the departments. The transaction was based on the financial and regulatory framework for public hospitals, and was funded directly through the institution's own behavioural budget and under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.

These measures came as a follow-up to a working meeting held on 26 September 2026 under the supervision of the General Administration, dedicated to listing the needs of the departments and determining the field distribution schedule for the collected family. The meeting approved the standards for equipment allocation according to treatment priorities and the nature of cases at the facility.

In the coming period, the hospital administration is aiming to complete the delivery of the remaining second and final batch of 113 beds to cover the rest of the hospital units, along with coordinating a family procurement program with specific technical specifications for private departments.
