Parliament transfers nine finance bills to the Finance Committee

The Office of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, headed by Brahim Bouderbala, today, Monday 2 November 2026 at the Bardo Palace, submitted 9 bills to the Finance and Budget Committee together with an urgent request for consideration. This decision was taken during the first meeting of the Office of the Council for the Opening of the Ordinary Session 2026-2027 to consider the legislative agenda and set priorities of parliamentary work.

The nine bills deal with approving financing agreements, contracts and financial guarantees concluded between the state and international financial institutions, including Club Africain Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. These financing contracts are aimed at supporting a package of national development projects and programmes for vital sectors, primarily the rehabilitation of water distribution networks, the construction of dams and the development of power lines in various regions.

The Council's office based its decision to refer draft laws and written questions addressed to members of the government to the requirements of its internal system, specifically the provisions of Chapter 129 regulating the mechanisms and procedures of parliamentary work within the Bardo Palace. This legal action seeks to accelerate the coordination of the examination of financial legislative initiatives referred by the executive authority to enable the State to fulfil its financial obligations with its international partners.

The Committee on Finance and the Budget shall, following this resolution, begin to hold hearings and study the texts of these financial agreements and the details of their provisions in order to set its assessment reports as a matter of urgency, in preparation for their submission to the General Meeting of Parliament for discussion and final vote on their adoption and entry into force.
