Home Town Bozouf Sees Clashes and Factory Burning After Protester’s Death

The town of Bozouf in Nabeul governorate witnessed a surge in public anger and the burning of a fly larvae breeding factory following a fatal accident. Protesters broke into the industrial facility and set it on fire after the death of resident Hussein al-Daridi, who succumbed to his injuries from a truck collision in front of the facility.

The actions come in line with previous demands by the local community to close the factory due to its proximity to residential areas and critical infrastructure. The public prosecutor in Nabeul inspected the body and ordered its transfer to the forensic doctor, while opening an investigation to uncover the circumstances of the incident and identify responsibilities.
