The Criminal Reconciliation Commission denies any financial settlement agreements
The Authority confirms that it is subject to precise procedures and competent committees and is not legally permitted to conclude agreements alone for the recovery of funds due.

The National Criminal Justice Committee, on 5 November 2026 in Tunisia, denied concluding any financial settlement agreements with detained businessmen during the recent period. The agency confirmed that the reconciliation process is subject to rigorous legal procedures under the supervision of competent committees without any neighborly negotiations at this time.
An official in the committee explained that the body is not legally authorized to conclude agreements alone or to conduct final negotiations on the proposed files. The source stressed that the approval of any reconciliation is only after the full amount owed has been recovered and the value of compensation and financial damages accurately determined.
This position came after an official meeting convened by Republic President Kais Saied and Commissioner Ali Abbas on 2 November 2026 to follow the course of file processing. This pathway is based on Decree No. 13 issued on 20 March 2022 relating to Penal Correction, Employment of its Revenues and Subsequent Rate for the Development of Working Mechanisms.
The legislative framework governing the process stipulates that the role of the committee should be transferred only to the preparation of reconciliation projects and to the President of the Republic. These projects were subsequently submitted to the National Security Council for final consideration, as part of an officially announced effort to recover damaged funds estimated to be worth about 13.5 billion dinars from hundreds of financial files.
The next procedural steps are to complete the financial and legal audit work within the competent El Fahs committees to set the amounts required. The files fulfilling the legal requirements are referred to the National Security Council for final decision on whether to approve the criminal reconciliation.
