The court has postponed the trial of fashion designer Layla Trapsey to November
The Criminal Chamber, which deals with financial corruption cases in the Tunisian Primary Court, postpones the examination of the case of abuse of power and unlawful gains to complete the proceedings.

The Criminal Chamber hearing the financial corruption cases at the Tunisian Primary Court has decided to postpone the trial of fashion designer Layla Trabbles, wife of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. The judiciary has set a date for the next hearing in November 2026 to complete the examination of court documents and follow up on the remaining criminal proceedings.
The trial deals with charges against the accused of exploiting influence and his direct relationship with the ex-president's wife for illegal profits and financial gain. The facts of the case benefit from the relevant use of his character as a personal designer to harm public money and unfairly obtain personal benefits within financial and administrative corruption files.
The Registrar-General for State Disputes submitted his civil applications to the Court in this case file. These requests are intended to safeguard the state's financial rights and interests arising from the violations attributed to the accused in accordance with applicable legal frameworks for combating administrative and financial corruption and exploitation of dignity.
The current judicial trajectory is linked to conviction precedents issued in the same design right by the same court during March 2026. He was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of nearly 4 million dinars after being convicted of obtaining illegal loans and bank facilities without adequate guarantees and setting up shops in the capital.
The Judicial Circuit is awaiting its settlement session scheduled for November to continue hearing the plaintiffs and follow up with the rest of the court on the charges against the defendant.
