A court sentences three foreigners to life in prison in Tunisia

The Fourth Criminal Chamber of the Tunisian Primary Court, on 28 October 2026, sentenced three foreigners from sub-Saharan Africa to life imprisonment after being convicted of the murder committed by their friend in a northern suburb of the capital.
The sentences of life imprisonment came after investigations were completed, the defendants were arraigned at trial and confronted with the evidence and laws fixed in the case file. The court indicted the three defendants on charges of involuntary manslaughter and participation in it, according to the rules of the Organized Crime Journal.
The facts of the case stem from a feud between the victim and the defendants living in the area that developed into a brawl and assault during which the victim stabbed him with a machine. The stabbings caused the victim to die on the spot before the group fled and security forces intervened to locate and stop them.
As soon as the crime took place, the judiciary and security authorities had begun to investigate the case, hear the allegations of the suspects and review the details of the dispute and its consequences. The investigation led to the conviction of the three parties and their referral to the appropriate criminal chamber for trial.
Legal proceedings allow convicts and the defence team to appeal these judgments of the Primary Court to the Court of Appeal in accordance with the scope and conditions set out in the Criminal Procedure Journal.
