Riyad Jarrah denies allocating the budget to build new prisons

Political analyst Riad Grade has accused an unnamed campaigner against state institutions and their officials, by spreading rumors, fake news, distortion and skepticism, in a blog post published today 3 November 2026 on his Facebook account.

These positions came against the backdrop of the controversial allocation of 566 million dinars within the Justice Ministry's 2027 budget, where Jared denied that the amount would be monitored for building new prisons, pointing out that these loans cover the expenditures of the prison and reform program in various directions.

Grad criticized the demand for the release of detainees and the refusal to label them as political detainees, calling them criminals, terrorists and traitors, adding that the campaigns would continue and intensify over the coming period and that their sources were known and their objectives exposed. This controversy comes after Justice Ministry representatives reviewed the ministry's budget bill of about 1112 million dinars during a joint parliamentary hearing held on 2 November 2026 before the General Legislation and Internal Order Committees, while the ministry denied allocating 566 million and 773 thousand dinars for the construction of new prisons, affirming that they are appropriations allocated to wages, nutrition, care, transportation and processing expenses within the Prisons and Reform Program.

This debate is part of the legislative framework for studying the Finance and State Budget Bill in Parliament and its Chambers, where hearings within joint parliamentary committees are expected to be completed ahead of the project's presentation and approval at the general meeting before the end of the year.
