The NRC has denied any financial settlement

The National Criminal Justice Committee in Tunisia today, 5 November 2026, denied the validity of what is being negotiated on concluding peace agreements during the recent period. An agency official confirmed that the news circulating about the signing of financial settlement deals is baseless.

The official source explained that the committee is not legally authorized to conclude agreements alone, stressing that there are currently no ongoing negotiations on criminal correctional files. The same source also denied the truth of news reports about deals with businessmen or detainees.

It stressed that the criminal justice system is subject to strict legal procedures and is operated by competent committees in accordance with the prescribed controls. The official added that there is no room for negotiation or final reconciliation until all the looted money for the benefit of the people has been recovered without any loss in the specified amounts.

The National Committee is charged with examining the submitted files, estimating the amounts required and negotiating recovery mechanisms. Any final reconciliation shall not be approved until all agreed debts have been paid or the development projects planned by the parties have been completed.

The path of criminal reconciliation launched by the President of the Republic Kais Saied is based on Decree No. 13 issued on 20 March 2022 and the Official Major's Manifesto on 21 March 2022 to recover money from economic and financial crimes.
