Kais Saied announces near decisions and infrastructure achievements

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, met on Monday 2 November 2026 at Carthage Palace, Minister of Processing and Housing in charge of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, Salah Zwari. The meeting discussed the follow-up to major national infrastructure projects, including the completion of the Tunisian-Algerian link road, as well as the construction of a Car bridge connecting Jeraba Island with the mainland.

During the meeting, the President of the Republic emphasized that the country is running a race against the clock to achieve the aspirations of the people, stressing that the achievements and decisions that will precede them are coming in turn to overcome the disruption of public projects, and pointing to the possibility of turning what was considered impossible into tangible reality.

The discussions included an end to the exclusive reliance on travel to the island of Jeraba on the cobblestones and the Roman road through the planned bridge, as well as a review of the progress of the border link axis work with Algeria after its fieldwork was completed.

The meeting touched on the legal framework of the public transaction system in various sectors, where Kais Saied stressed the need to review its regulatory texts and legislation to address procedural gaps, combat allegations of corruption and fraud and reduce implementation delays.

The next steps are aimed at preparing urgent legislative amendments to the public procurement system, issuing executive decisions to accelerate the completion of road networks, and launching border links and directing the remaining phases of the Jeraba Bridge project.
