The President of the Republic considers during a meeting with Carthage Palace that leaving garbage on the streets for weeks is intended to fill the social street after previous warnings of hygiene disruption.
President Kais Saied accused parties of deliberately employing garbage accumulation in the streets for weeks or months with the aim of upsetting social conditions, and this came during a meeting held at Carthage Palace on Friday 6 November 2026.
The President of the Republic clarified that leaving waste in a container for long periods of time is part of attempts to start the gridlock, pointing out that social stability is continuing to be targeted by disrupting basic services to citizens. These statements come about a year after the president in November 2025 accused his lobbyists of obstructing garbage collection despite the availability of physical and logistical possibilities, when he issued strict law enforcement instructions to those responsible for any shortcomings in this area.
The President of the Republic had confirmed on Friday 6 November 2026 during his meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People and the Chairman of the National Council of Authorities and Territories that the war of national liberation would continue and would never change its course, pointing out that there were deliberate disruptions to public facilities.
The President of the Republic had returned in March 2026 to emphasize the need to ensure the regularity of cleanliness operations in different regions, demanding that circumstantial campaigns not be spared and the waste file processed continuously and permanently.
