Participating experts called for accelerating the completion of alternative energy projects to avoid supply disruptions and ensure the continuity of production units.

The results of a survey conducted by the Arab Institute of Heads of Institutions showed that 96 percent of respondents were exposed to power outages during July and autumn 2026. 58.3 percent of the institutions concerned confirmed repeated outages several times a day.

These outages caused an average loss of 13 business days, while 29 percent of organizations reported a loss of 20 or more business days. The outages have caused financial losses exceeding 1.2 billion dinars for economic institutions.

The survey revealed direct negative impacts on the production and industrial co-ordination in the country. Recorded power outages during the summer of 2026 cost companies losses of 12,69.6 million dinars in value added.

These estimates were made in a study released by the Institute of Wretched Economists. These losses measure the direct effect of a power outage on the production coefficient.
