The students of Gabès raise their stance after a service agreement

Representatives of student structures in Gabès State decided on Wednesday 28 October 2026 to lift the open stand at the headquarters of the Directorate Aéronautique des Services Universitaires after 8 days of protest. The decision to suspend the standoff came after agreements were reached on university services and improved housing and living conditions for students in the region.

The agreements included addressing drinking water disruption problems, providing lighting and adjusting university transportation schedules to meet students' needs. In the same context, the proposed solutions included organizing meals in restaurants and college hostels according to a timetable set during November 2026.

This decision came after a series of working sessions and agreements with local and regional authorities during which the commitment was made to improve basic services for students. The next step is to follow up with student representatives to implement these commitments and coordinate the return of university restaurants to normal activity.
