The Agricultural Union of Jendouba warns against lack of seeds and fertilizers
President of the Jendouba Air Farming Federation announces difficulties in supplying chemical fertilizers and excellent seeds with the start of the big growing season.

The President of the Jendouba Air Agriculture and Marine Fisheries Federation warned Lemazie on 3 November 2026 of difficulties in preventing the start of the 2026 and 2027 major agricultural seasons in the province. Farmers in the region are facing a shortage of production inputs as producers start preparing for the seed season, amid demands to manage supply delays to avoid jamming planned areas.
IAF data indicate that the recorded deficit in wheat and barley seeds exceeded 50% of estimated needs, while the market stopped supplying basic fertilizer for 20 consecutive days. These difficulties have come despite the fact that farmers have completed farmland preparation processes, which puts the province's general productivity plans and specified grain areas before logistical problems.
He emphasized that farmers in the region are facing a crisis in supplying excellent chemical fertilizers and seeds, which are a key factor in the success of large-scale crops. He demanded that producers speed up the distribution of quotas and facilitate administrative transactions in order to secure supplies before the due dates for seeds in different production areas expire.
The Regional Delegation for Agricultural Development in Jendouba had identified at a working session at the governor's headquarters on 24 September 2026 more than 84,000 hectares of land for large crops, in exchange for the needs of more than 90,000 canters of seeds. The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Marine Fisheries oversees the major agricultural system, distribution and pricing routes in coordination with the Grain Board.
Subsequent steps are aimed at encouraging the chemical complex to accelerate fertilizer pumping processes and provide fertilising alternatives such as triphosphate to farmers, as well as address pending financial debts and intensify field guidance to secure the requirements of the current agricultural season.
