Tunisian Consulates Refer Passport Applications to Interior Ministry for Deep Screening

Consulates abroad have referred files for passport renewals and issuances to the Interior Ministry for a thorough review. This includes a security check on the activities of applicants both within and outside the country, even in the absence of any criminal records.

These investigations take months, delaying the issuance of the passports to applicants. This administrative restriction comes amid growing complaints from the diaspora about the imposed restrictions on their movement and right to travel.
