The National Guard is arresting a foreign student with marijuana in Jendouba

The National Guard's research and inspection team on Tuesday arrested a foreign student in Jendouba state on suspicion of being involved in drug trafficking. The operation followed a security ambush in the city of Jendouba Nord in coordination with the Prosecutor General's Office in the Primary Court after monitoring his movements.

Security patrol caught the suspect in possession of more than two kilograms of dried marijuana drug ready for distribution. The data showed that the suspect was born in 2007 and holds the nationality of a sub-Saharan African country, where he was monitoring youth and students in the region.

This field move followed an intelligence and security follow-up that yielded useful information about the possession of a quantity of prohibited materials designed to be promoted in schools and universities.

The Prosecutor General of the Jendouba Primary Court has authorized in the first instance to retain the suspect to conduct legal investigations in accordance with the provisions of the legislation relating to drug trafficking, tracking offences and promotion of prohibited substances. Subsequently, the matter was submitted to the investigative judge to complete the investigation into the sources of those materials.

After hearing the defendant's statements, the investigating judge issued a sentence of imprisonment in the civil prison of Blarija in his own right, pending the completion of the judicial investigation and the determination of other parties who may be involved in providing him with that shipment and facilitating its movement.
