Finance Minister confirms freezing fuel prices to tackle energy volatility

Minister of Finance, Musamata Saleh Khaledi, announced that the government has decided not to raise fuel prices since last April, to ease the financial burden on consumers. This decision was taken during a hearing held by the Joint Committee on Finance and Budget in Parliament.

The minister explained to members of the parliamentary committee that this governmental option is aimed at protecting citizens' purchasing power, along with reducing the economic damage caused by fluctuations in energy prices on global markets and their impact on the stability of domestic consumption.

This trend was put forward as part of the initial outline of the draft state budget for 2027, in the framework of the public balance sheet assessment of public finances and the examination of the increasing pressures faced by the country's subsidy spending system.
