The Zaghouan Water Board is considering plans to secure the supply by 2027

The Zaghouan State Water Board held a meeting at the Governor's Headquarters, chaired by Secretary of State for Water Resources Hamadi Habib and attended by the Governor of Zaghouan Karim Barangi, to discuss plans to strengthen drinking water supply systems in preparation for 2027.

The meeting focused on monitoring the status of water resources and securing infrastructure in various body approvals with the aim of avoiding repeated disruptions, with the participation of President General Manager of National Water Utilization and Distribution Company Abdul Hamid Manaja.

The works included a review of the results of field inspections that preceded the session for a number of water projects in the area with a total value of more than 60 million dinars, most notably a drainage system preparation project at a cost of 55 million dinars and a project to prepare 176 rainwater harvesting tanks in Samanga for more than 5.5 million dinars. These moves come within the legal and institutional framework of the Governor General's Administration of Water, national policies to regulate water resources and combat water table drainage and water scarcity, and coincide with the continuing restructuring of the Zriba West Glacial System at a cost of 5.6 million dinars and the verification of the proposed location of El Haouaria Dam by El Fahs.

At the conclusion of the Council, participants agreed to approve an acceleration of the completion of planned projects and their completion within their defined deadlines to ensure operational readiness of distribution systems by the end of 2027.
