Resolution of the Fishing Boat Afton Crisis and Its Repatriation to Kiesa Port in Italy

The authorities successfully resolved the crisis of a Tunisian fishing boat that had been stranded at sea for days and repatriated it to Kiesa Port in Italy. The captain, Ahmed Fenni, and his crew of six remained stranded at sea since last Saturday due to an unexpected mechanical failure.

Captain Ahmed Fenni refused to leave his boat in the open sea for four days without ensuring the repatriation process to avoid sinking. The Nabeul Maritime Guard began arranging for the return of the boat and its crew to national ports once the consular procedures were completed.
