Tunisia and Switzerland have signed an agreement to implement our civil protection program
The government signed a cooperation agreement with the Swiss Confederation to implement our protection programme aimed at enhancing preparedness, developing intervention and crisis management in civil protection.

The Government of the Republic and the Swiss Confederation signed, on Wednesday 4 November 2026, a joint cooperation agreement to implement our protection program dedicated to supporting the National Civil Protection Courts. The official opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Interior and the Swiss side.
This agreement, financed by the Swiss side, aims to enhance operational capabilities and develop a formation system and field training. The provisions of the agreement also focus on upgrading rapid response mechanisms to respond to natural disasters and major accidents and improving crisis management in different regions.
This step is part of the joint bilateral cooperation path towards raising the readiness of field teams and developing their hazard prevention capabilities. A joint Tunisian-Swiss delegation made a field work visit to Tataouine State in October 2025 to follow up the program arrangements and inspect proposed project sites.
The executive phases planned for the upcoming period include the establishment of a regional training site in Zaghouan Zriba. The program also includes creating a training space in Tataouine State for qualifying volunteer associations, along with starting to build a typical civil protection unit at the Ghomrassen Local Delegation.
