The Heritage Agency opens museums and archaeological sites free of charge to visitors

The Agency for Cultural Heritage and Development opened all the sites, historical monuments and museums of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs free of charge to visitors on Sunday 1 November 2026.

Free entry includes citizens as well as foreigners residing in Tunisia from holders of legal residence cards, where state-owned landmarks allow to visit their historic buildings and spaces without paying a scheduled entrance fee.

The opening of these spaces is based on the organised arrangements for admission teachers issued by joint decisions between the Ministries of Culture and Finance. These legal texts allow the public to benefit from free visits on specific periodic dates that include the first of each month in addition to public holidays.

The agency had applied the same procedure during previous periodic appointments, including on Sunday 4 October 2026. The system also allows free admission to specific annual events, including 18 April on the occasion of World Sites and Monuments Day and 18 May in conjunction with World Museum Day.

Museums, historical sites and archaeological sites are scheduled to reopen their doors free of charge to interested groups on the first Sunday of December 2026 along with subsequent public holidays according to the approved schedule.
