Pacific Hospital thanks to Sfax receiving equipment for breast cancer

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Hospital Shaker B Sfax, on Saturday 31 October 2026, handed over a gift from the Lyons Club Association representing medical equipment dedicated to breast cancer surgery and a gamma-ray detection probe for the guard kidney with a monetary value of 112 thousand dinars.

An equipment delivery parade was organized under the supervision of Sfax's Air Director of Health, and attended by University Hospital Directors Hadi Shakar, Habib Bourguiba and the heads of relevant medical departments, to support specialist surgical interventions in the area.

The hospital administration said that the equipment is aimed at supporting breast cancer surgery and the application of protective lymph node technology, and the initiative falls within the organized legal framework for partnership and cooperation between civil society organizations and public hospital institutions in conjunction with the completion of events for the month of October to combat and raise awareness of the disease.

The hospital department had previously seen additional support through the provision of high-precision binocular and ultrasound imaging equipment worth 270 thousand dinars, with about 2000 surgical interventions per year representing 80% of tumor surgeries, including nearly 350 operations for breast cancer.

The medical teams in the next step are headed straight for the actual start of using a gamma detector to apply guarding lymph node technology, with the goal of avoiding extended surgical removal and reducing health complications for patients.
