Libya withdraw from the North African Junior Qualifiers in Tunisia

The North African Football Federation announced today that it had received an official correspondence from the Libyan Football Federation stating that the under-17 Libyan national team could not participate in the nomination round held in Sousse and Monastir. This decision prompted the organizing committee to make immediate changes to the schedule and distribute matches between the stadiums of the two cities.

The organising committee adopted a new system of competitions after participation was limited to four candidates: Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt. I decided to reduce the schedule of matches from five rounds to only three rounds played in the minor league system on November 10, 13 and 16.

The opening round scheduled for 10 November will see the Tunisian team meet their Egyptian counterpart after the cancellation of the scheduled match against Libya, with the second match meeting on the same day between Algeria and Morocco. The tournament matches are played between the Olympic Stadium in Sousse and the Mustafa bin Janat Stadium in Monastir.

These regional qualifiers are included within the qualifying route for the Africa Cup of Nations Junior Finals under the auspices of the Federation Club Africain for the game, where the qualification system stipulates that the first- and second-place holders will advance directly to the continental finals after the completion of the three round matches.
