The Young Physicians Organization is calling a strike at six hospitals
The Tunisian Young Physicians' Organization is calling for an on-going strike on 20 November to demand the redemption of late-term benefits and the provision of compulsory labour.

The Tunisian Young Physicians' Organization has issued a warning of a one-day absence strike scheduled for November 20, 2026. The move involves six university hospital institutions distributed between the states of Tunisia, Sousse, Monastir and Kairouan, in protest at the delay in disbursement of accumulated financial debts.
The list of institutions involved in the strike includes the University Hospital Mengi Slim in La Marsa, in Tunisia, the Hassal Hospital and Hassal Farahs in Sousse, the Bourguiba Phantom Hospital in Monastir, along with the Butcher's Son Hospital and the Majority Surgical Specialties Unit in Kairouan.
Protesters are demanding immediate settlement of all debts and the provision of compulsory means of work in accordance with the legal arrangements for their duties, after a delay in registering continuity allowances for periods exceeding 9 months in some cases, as well as a registered shortage of work clothes and medical shoes.
The organisation was based on a formal agreement with the Ministry of Health dated 3 July 2025 requiring management instead to grant continuity allowances for statutory periods set at a maximum of one month. A national survey conducted by the organization also showed that delays for more than 22 university and private hospitals reached 6 months or more in 66% of participants, while 56% reported not receiving preventive equipment.
The organisation considers the 20 November strike to be a first step in a series of subsequent upward moves, affirming that it will include the sale of other hospitals which have not yet paid financial dues to their members.
