The Tunisian handball university returns Osama Buganemi to the national team
National voter Terry Antti directs the invitation to the Espérance Sportive de Tunis ward to strengthen the squad's ranks within a list of 21 players to prepare for the German World Cup.

French national voter Terry Antti has called on the left wing of Espérance Sportive de Tunis' Asama Buganemi to join the national handball team, on 1 November 2026. The Tunisian Handball University has announced the player's call-up to strengthen the offensive line during the next stage, which sees intensive preparations for continental and international qualifications.
Buganemi joins a 21-player roster for a pre-season qualifier to be held in Tunisia from 2 to 8 November 2026. This qualifying meeting involves two matches and two dates for the Russian and Japanese electors, to test the technical and physical readiness of the invited elements.
The player, born on 5 February 1990, returns to the international roster after a period of absence, based on a career in which he topped the national team's goal list with 865 goals scored during 184 official matches he played in the national shirt in various tournaments.
On the disciplinary and judicial level, Bouganemi had been subjected on 12 December 2025 to a decision of the National Handball Association referee suspending him for two local matches and fining him 300 dinars for getting a blue card. July 2023 also saw the issuance of a preliminary ruling against him by the Sousse court, which sentenced him to 6 months' imprisonment with a financial fine in a public bombing case.
This preparatory programme is part of the preparations for the World Handball Championship finals scheduled in Germany between 13 and 31 January 2027. The Tunisian team begins its first-round campaign against Germany on 13 January 2027, before meeting Serbia in the 15-team and Uruguay in the 17-team group stage.
