Health systems in Tunisia recorded 20,551 new cases of cancer, including 10,720 women's tumors in 2025. The distinguished professor of oncological surgery at the Saleh Aziz Institute, Dr. Hanan Bouazize, announced these official statements on October 30, 2026, in Tunis.

Statistical data indicate that women's registered tumors reached 10,720 new cases of various cancers by 2025. Breast cancer was the leading cause of death among women, with about 4,500 new cases reported that same year, accounting for nearly 30% of all female cancers in the country.

Hanan Bouazize said the official data needed to strengthen early screening mechanisms in women to cope with the spread of the disease. She confirmed that the announcement of these statistics coincided with the completion of the annual events for the month of pink October dedicated to combating breast cancer and raising awareness of its risks and prevention.

These health measures are part of the institutional and organisational framework of the National Cancer Programme under the supervision of the Ministry's Primary Healthcare Department. This programme aims at ensuring the care of patients and providing clinical follow-up and psychological coverage to patients within various specialized hospital institutions.

In the coming period, health authorities are continuing and expanding free early detection campaigns throughout the year through a network of primary health centres. Coming medical interventions focus on intensifying early detection of breast, cervical, and colon cancers in various areas.
