The Minister of Transport announces an increase in the fleet of ready-to-use buses to 3312 buses

Transport Minister Rashid Amiri announced today on Wednesday 4 November 2026 at the Bardo Palace that the fleet of ready-to-use public transport buses will increase to 3,312 by next December. This came during a joint parliamentary session to discuss the draft budget of the Ministry of Transport's mission for 2027, after the fleet was within 2416 buses during 2025.

The target fleet is divided between 2,618 buses for airlines compared to 1896 buses in the past, 851 buses for Tunisian transport company versus 520 buses, as well as 165 buses dedicated to the National Intercity Transport Company compared to 111 buses. The sector's budget also allocated 151 million dinars for civil aviation maintenance and purchase of 3 aircraft units to support the air force.

This path falls within the legal framework for the adoption of the Finance and State Budget Bill 2027 by both Houses of Parliament in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and Basic Budget Law. This accompanies the implementation of intervention and development expenses that seek to restore the readiness of land and air transport systems after years of decline in the number of usable wagons.

During the upcoming period, Parliament will continue to discuss and vote on the budgetary sections of the transport task in the general sessions devoted to the Finance Bill. The certification path follows the start of the delivery of targeted bus payments and their gradual introduction into urban and inter-city transport networks.
