Launch of Early Warning Center for Forest Fires in Gafsa

The General Directorate of Forests launched an operations room, early warning, and forest fire monitoring center at the Forest Protection Center in Ghar el Melh, Gafsa. This initiative is part of a cooperation with the Global Environment Facility in North Africa to develop intervention mechanisms in mountainous areas.

The new center has adopted a unified digital application for rapid operational control to reduce the response time of firefighting teams. The project aims to protect forest wealth from natural disasters and reduce the spread of forest fires in the northwestern forests.
