A state of waiting prevails in the preparations for a match between Egyptian Zamalk and Club Africain, scheduled for 28 November 2026 in the Egyptian capital Cairo, due to match timetable conflicts with winter lawn planting operations at the Cairo International Stadium. The management of the stadium authority has submitted an official report to the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports to determine the final position on postponing periodic maintenance work.

The stadium's management, in coordination with the responsible tech company, had set a pre-closure date for the facility starting on November 24, 2026 and lasting about 25 days to complete the grass seed. The agency warned in its report to the ministry that amending this timetable could threaten the success of the winter seed collection process, explaining operational difficulties and technical warnings associated with responding to the club's request.

FC Zamalk has submitted an official request to the stadium authority and the Egyptian Football Federation to postpone the closure of the stadium until after the end of the meeting, while adhering to allowing the attendance of the crowds with the full capacity of the stairs. The Egyptian club wishes to take advantage of the groundworkers and the public on the main stadium floor at 6:00 p.m.

This summit falls within the first round of the CAF Champions League group stage for the 2026-2027 season, after the draw placed both teams in the second group alongside the Algerian and Tanzanian-born Young Africans. Extraordinary decisions relating to public sports facilities in Egypt are subject to the authority of the Minister of Youth and Sports as the competent administrative body for resolving regulatory disputes.

The parties are awaiting the final government decision whether to accept the postponement of the seed business and the appointment of the meeting at the Cairo Stadium, or reject the request. The Zamalk club has begun to equip the option of transferring the face-to-face to the Suez Canal Authority Stadium as an alternative stadium in case the capital cannot play.
