Tunisian Court Grants Release of Activists Ayah al-Sadrawy and Gith al-Hamaruni

The criminal chamber of the Court of First Instance in Tunis has decided to release activists Ayah al-Sadrawy and Gith al-Hamaruni after their appearance before the judiciary. The hearing took place at the court in Bab al-Aynas, with a notable presence of representatives from human rights and civil society organizations.

The activists were detained following their participation in a march on September 19th, which supported political detainees and opposed restrictions on freedoms. Legal defense teams continue to call for the closure of legal proceedings against participants in peaceful demonstrations.
