The National Water Utilization and Distribution Company expects a gradual return of supplies
Disturbances and stoppages in drinking water supplies include the Mnihla, Raoued, Kalâat el-Andalous and Solidarity and El Omrane supérieur districts following flooding in a major pumping canal.

The national water exploitation and distribution company expects a gradual resumption of drinking water supply starting at noon on Sunday 1 November 2026 in the municipalities of Mnihla, Raoued, Kalâat el-Andalous and El Omrane supérieur. Disruption and disruption of supplies also affected the upper regions of the local Solidarity delegation, while technical teams continued uninterrupted field maintenance work.
The immediate impact of the disruption included within the Mnihla Local Delegation, the Garden District and the Republic, as well as the highlands and conurbations of the Greater Northern Tunisia regions of Ariana and El Omrane supérieur. These outages were concentrated in areas associated with the damaged network that had seen the flow of water stop since the fault was recorded.
The foundation reported that its technical teams carried out the repairs around the clock to restore the water system. The company anticipated a gradual return of water flow to all affected areas after the necessary welding and maintenance work for the canal was completed.
The causes of this outage are due to a sudden flood that occurred on the evening of Saturday 31 October 2026 on an 800 mm diameter main pump channel linking Douar Hicher in solidarity and supplying the Mnihla 109 tank. These interventions fall within the framework set out in the Water Journal and the law regulating the company's functions as a public facility solely responsible for the distribution of safe drinking water and maintenance of its networks.
The next step for the technical teams is to monitor the water pressure stability and gradually replenish the tanks after the canal is operated. This measure aims to ensure a regular flow of supplies to the subnetworks and high-rise residential areas respectively.
