The Chancellor is pleased with the CAF Champions League draw

Club Africain coach Maher Al-Kansari expressed his satisfaction with the results of the group stage draw in the CAF Champions League football competition for the 2026-2027 season held in Cairo, Egypt. Al-Kansari considered that his team's presence in the second group gave him a real opportunity to take part in the continental competition under technically and organisationally appropriate conditions.

The draw resulted in Club Africain being placed in the second group alongside the Egyptian Zalayk, the Algerian birth and the Tanzanian Young Africans. The technical framework considers this set to be suitable in terms of match timetable and travel conditions, as it allows you to avoid exhausting trips within the continent except for travelling to Tanzania.

Maher Al-Kansari stressed that there is no easy group in CAF Champions League competitions, stressing that the team will play their full advantage in order to qualify for the knockout roles. The technical framework explained that efforts are currently focused on the first professional league championship matches to prepare players physically and technically before qualifying for Club Africain.

Club Africain's qualification for the group stage came after being beaten by financial club Juliba in the first preliminary round, and then overtaken by Congolese club TB Mazambi in the second preliminary round. Al-Kansari was to take over the technical supervision of the team on 21 July 2026 with a contract lasting for a full season as successor to coach Pfizer.

The tournament is organised by the Club Africain Federation in a round-robin format between the clubs of the four groups to qualify for the quarter-finals. Club Africain embarks on its continental tour to face Zamalk outside its bases in late November 2026.
