The National Institute of Large Crops has revealed that only 25% of farmers' seed needs in Tunisia are met by certified seeds.
Fadi Gaddafi, coordinator of the governorates of Tunis and Bizerte, explained that 75% of the areas rely on unmonitored self-sown seeds.
It is noted that the production of certified seeds is limited to four certified companies subject to official monitoring without fully meeting the demand.
The institute urges farmers to apply agricultural trading and cultivate legumes to maintain soil fertility and improve production.
