Tunisian MP’s Sarcasm Provokes Anger in Libya

A sarcastic comment made by Tunisian MP Ahmed Saidani after a match between Espérance de Tunis and Al-Sweylili of Libya has sparked widespread anger in Libyan media. In his comment, Saidani referred to the city of Misrata as 'used goods and militias not used for football.'

Libyan media outlets have condemned Saidani's comment as an unwarranted insult that goes against the spirit of sportsmanship and the bonds of friendship between the two peoples.

The controversy has also coincided with reports of Al-Sweylili's administrative team and staff being subjected to violations and attacks outside the playing field at Radès stadium.
