The Minister of Economy announces that he will be referring the Exchange and Investment Law to Parliament

The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdul Hafez, has announced the referral to Parliament of the texts for the review of the Drainage, Investment Law and Water Journal during the coming period. This came during a joint parliamentary session held on Thursday to discuss the proposed economic and legislative trends and files.
The Minister explained that the draft texts had reached an advanced stage of preparation with a view to completing their legislative course. He added that the problem posed in economic reality is not only related to legal provisions but also includes implementing orders and procedures that need to be reviewed, simplified and developed.
Abdul Hafez revealed the trend towards developing the national digital investment platform and putting it into actual use by February 2027. The platform aims to facilitate investors' access to the available data and investment opportunities and value the differential advantages of different entities within the country.
These legislative moves are part of efforts to address structural barriers to projects under previous investment agreements. In this context, the Ministry is seeking to coordinate the completion of those projects and resolve real estate, technical, administrative and financial problems, with agreements and executive budgets drawn up where appropriate.
Action plans for the next phase are aimed at reviewing international organised investment conventions and starting negotiations on new conventions. Subsequent steps also include strengthening cooperation with various international organisations and expanding areas of technical expertise exchange to support the business climate.
