Environment Minister announces programming of 870 projects at a cost of 6854 million dinars
The projects are part of the development plan for the period 2026-2030 and include infrastructure for cleaning, waste disposal, coastal protection and pollution resistance by various actors.

Minister of Environment Habib Obeyed today announced the programming of nearly 870 environmental projects within the development plan for the period 2026-2030 at a total cost estimated at about 6854 million dinars. This came during a rigorous joint session of the National Council of Local Authorities and Regions' Committee on Industry, Trade, Natural Resources, Energy and Environment dedicated to studying the Environmentally Important Budget Project for 2027.
Projects planned include setting up purification infrastructure, improving the quality and pricing of treated water, as well as developing a waste management system, protecting the coastal strip from drift, controlling pollution and preserving biodiversity. The Environmental Strategy aims to ensure citizens' right to a healthy environment, promote fairness among stakeholders and encourage investment in the environmental sector.
According to the Minister, the budget of the Environment Mission and institutions under its supervision is estimated at 531.241 million dinars for 2027, and the state budget provides almost 95% of the total of these loans. He considered that the year 2027 would be a milestone in the implementation of the Five-Year Development Plan, which puts forward public-private partnership to complete specific programmes.
The Ministry's plan includes the creation of waste treatment and valuation units and extraction of energy from biogas in controlled effluents and the generalization of selective sorting, along with the rehabilitation of accidental effluents, and the elimination of blackheads. The interventions are aimed at reducing emissions from polluted economic activities, particularly related to the chemical industry and phosphate plants in various areas concerned.
The Ministry has prepared a state-specific ecological plan that addresses the priorities of an abstract valley basin, coastal protection, better use of water resources and reuse of treated water for irrigation. The programme also includes revitalizing degraded ecosystems, creating a green belt and supporting climate change research, while continuing efforts to address technical difficulties to disrupt a number of pending projects.
