Italian Prime Minister Georgia Miroli announced the return of 65,000 irregular migrants to their countries with the cooperation of Tunisia, Libya, and Algeria.

This operation was made possible through enhanced security and on-the-ground cooperation with these three countries.

Miroli also stated that her government will continue to closely coordinate with North African countries to curb irregular migration.

International and local human rights organizations continue to criticize the repatriation and interception agreements in the Mediterranean.
