The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Muhammad Ali Nafthi, held talks with Libyan and regional officials on pushing the path of political settlement and strengthening joint economic and security cooperation on Saturday 7 November 2026 in Tripoli, Libya.

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid al-Dabiba welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, where he expressed his appreciation for Tunisia's leadership and people, and discussed strengthening regional coordination and bilateral partnership on the sidelines of ministerial meetings in Tripoli.

During his meeting in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the State of Libya, Tahir Salem al-Baour, the oil minister reaffirmed Tunisia's principled position supporting an international-sponsored political solution to Libya that preserves Libya's unity and sovereignty over its capabilities, and seeks to activate the unification of the coastal and Saharan countries and revitalize its institutions in response to the aspirations of member states.

The Foreign Minister met with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdul Atti, in Tripoli, where the two sides exchanged views on regional developments and ways to intensify joint coordination to support security and stability in the region and support political resolution efforts. These diplomatic moves coincide with the delegation's participation in the work of the 22nd Regular Session of the Executive Council of the United Coastal and Saharan States, and reaffirm Tunisia's commitment to supporting the efforts of the Assembly and resuming its activities to address such security, economic and climate challenges.

Tunisia is preparing to host the meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the Libyan Tunisian High Commission on 10 and 11 November 2026, to discuss water and energy security, trade exchange, border development and health cooperation.
