8 Opposition Parties Back October 17 March and Call for Release of Political Detainees

Eight opposition parties have expressed their support for a national march scheduled for October 17, which will be attended by civil society organizations. The parties called for the release of all political detainees and activists, and the cessation of judicial proceedings against opponents.

Among the signatory parties are the Democratic Current, Republican, Workers' Party, and Horizons Tunisia, which rejected the recently issued presidential decrees, reaffirming their commitment to a democratic transition.

The anticipated march will raise social and human rights demands, denouncing the curtailment of public freedoms and the deterioration of living conditions.
