The Court of First Instance in Gabès has sentenced the coordinator of the Stop Pollution Movement Khairdin Dhibi and 11 others to six months in prison with suspension of execution. The case was brought by the Tunisian Chemical Group on the heels of a peaceful protest in 2020, under the charge of disrupting the freedom of work.
Khairdin Dhibi, the spokesperson for the Stop Pollution Movement, stated that the conviction of activists will not stop their protests against the environmental violations caused by the Tunisian Chemical Group, which has turned the lives of the inhabitants into a nightmare. He emphasized that the environmental movement demanding the dismantling of the units of the Tunisian Chemical Group will not cease until this demand is met.
