Opposition politician and National Salvation Front leader Ahmed Naji al-Shabbi has decided to temporarily suspend his hunger strike after a week of participating in it at Mornaguia prison. The decision came after a meeting with prison management regarding his demands.
His son, Louai al-Shabbi, stated that the step was taken as an expression of goodwill pending the verification of the prison management's commitment to ensure reliable media sources for prisoners.
The 82-year-old al-Shabbi was hospitalized twice due to a deterioration in his health and a sharp drop in his blood sugar and blood pressure before deciding to suspend the strike after consulting with his family while maintaining his legitimate demands.
